TAGLINE: Who Will Fight Against The Darkness When The Fire Goes Out?
SUMMARY:
Angered by how they’ve squandered Prometheus’ gift on weapons, war and destruction, the Olympian gods reclaim the ‘spark of life’ from our modern world. Fire, electricity, creativity, passion, and life itself dims. As the earth cools, the sky is blotted out by dark clouds of moisture. Sunlight, moonlight, and starlight are obscured. A deadly depression disease called ‘the malaise’ slowly starts to infect men, women, and children from all walks of life. Hideous creatures that were once held at bay by fire, now crawl from the shadows.
Zoe is a seventeen-year old girl who has an unusual problem — she seems strangely immune to the depression that has seized the rest of the world. Raised from infancy by her mother and other Maine residents, she has learned the skills to survive in this harsh new reality. When her mother falls ill, Zoe learns of her connection to the god Prometheus, and assembles a crew of unaffected misfits to reclaim fire before all life becomes extinguished.
As they toil through a desolate landscape, vacant highways, blazing deserts and torrential waters – Zoe and the crew of the Charybdis, are sustained only by the vague hope of finding warmth again.
Can a girl raised in the modern world face the wonders and ancient terrors of a world inhabited by gods and monsters? And even if she does reclaim fire — will it be worth bringing it back to a world that will just abuse it again? Or are the world’s brightest days still ahead?
